This work tells the story of Otani’s childhood pet dog, Pooh. “The dog in this picture is called Pooh. This is a mixed breed that I had when I was in elementary school. The place where Pooh was was also on the hill behind the house where I lived at the time, and we always ran around and played together. The smell of green and earth, the black face and cute eyes looking at me. I drew this picture based on my memory.”

The artwork reflects Otani’s exploration of painting as an expressive form that bridges his background in three-dimensional art with the evocative power of memory. This piece captures a cherished moment and stands as one of his most successful early works.
