About The Work

This print is titled “Marilyn 11.31” by pop artist Andy Warhol. The work features a portrait of actress Marilyn Monroe with the colors pink and yellow. The print is part of an open edition and is stamped on the back in blue ink “Fill In Your Own Signature” and “Published by Sunday B. Morning”. Just like the original “Factory Additions” prints by Warhol, the print measures at 36 by 36 inches and is a screen print on museum board.

What is Sunday B. Morning?

After Andy Warhol produced his now famous Marilyn, Flowers, and Campbell’s Soup Cans series through his print-publishing business called Factory Additions, he began discussions with two anonymous friends from Belgium about reproductions. Warhol sent the original photo negatives for the stencils and color codes to the Belgiums, who then published the reproductions as “Sunday B. Morning” in the 1970s with a black stamp on the back that read “Fill In Your Own Signature”. Warhol allegedly had a change of heart of the partnership and signed “This is not by me. Andy Warhol” on some of the Sunday B. Morning prints that he came across. Since the 1980s, Sunday B. Morning continues to produce prints stamped in blue ink from the same studio in Belgium using the same techniques, tools, and quality as the original “Factory Additions” series by Warhol.
