Andy Warhol (b. August 6, 1928 – d. February 22, 1987) was an American artist, film director, and producer who pioneered the “pop art” visual arts movement in the 1960s. Warhol drew inspiration from popular culture, celebrities, and mass-produced commercial everyday objects. Some of Warhol’s best known works include the famous Marilyn Monroe portraits and Campbell’s Soup Cans.
